Prologue

After a brief stint in the town in which they were originally to spend the year, Dave and Jenn made an unplanned exodus and retreated to Jenn’s grandparents’ in North Yorkshire to re-group. They knew that if they spent the year there, they would be miserable, and so made the bold decision to jump ship and look for alternatives. The one that presented itself was Birmingham. They had little time to make a choice before heading off on their trip around France and Italy; they just hoped they made the right one.
